    • Dr. Claire McCarthy


      PhD, MA Ed., PGCE, Cert Ed., FAETC, FHEA, RDH (TCD), RDN, FCGDent

      Claire McCarthy is a leading expert in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Claire graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2000 and joined King’s College London (KCL) in 2004. With 24 years of clinical experience and 17 years in research and teaching, Claire has shaped dental education across the UK, US, and Ireland. She earned her PhD in Clinical Dentistry in 2024—a first for a Dental Hygienist at KCL—focusing on aerosol prevention and ultrasonic device performance. As a Clinical Research Fellow and Teacher at KCL, she mentors students, supervises clinical sessions, and leads research on ultrasonic devices and aerosol reduction. She also serves as chair of the Irish Dental Council’s Accreditation Committee, an external assessor for Malta’s MFHEA, and a Visiting Scholar at NYU College of Dentistry, contributing to postgraduate education. Claire’s passion for bridging theory with clinical practice ensures professionals receive cutting-edge insights.

    • Dr Lydia Sharples


      MChD/BChD, BSc (Hons) – High Quality General Dentistry (UK), PGCert (University of Leeds)

      Lydia Sharples graduated from Leeds Dental School with distinction and has a strong focus on cosmetic and restorative dentistry. She is known for her calm, thorough approach and for putting even nervous patients at ease. Lydia was Director of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry from 2020–2023 and has also worked as Clinical Executive for Aligner Consulting and Clinical Instructor for 6 Month Smiles. She is an Elite Invisalign Provider with a particular interest in aligner therapy and smile design. She has lectured nationally at BDIA, BACD and BDA conferences, published in dental journals, and continues to invest heavily in postgraduate training. At Bespoke Smile’s Marlow clinic, Lydia works as Clinical Lead and Smile Designer, creating tailored treatment plans designed to achieve natural, balanced results.

      Diploma Dental Hygiene (Distinction), Diploma Dental Therapy (Distinction) – King’s College London (2008)

      Cat Edney is a multi-award-winning Dental Therapist who qualified from King’s College Dental Hospital in 2008 with distinction in both Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. With over a decade of experience in specialist private practice, she has developed a strong reputation for delivering holistic, patient-centred care in a calm and supportive environment. Cat provides comprehensive hygiene care, periodontal treatment, restorative fillings and tooth whitening, with a particular interest in integrating therapy-led care within multidisciplinary teams. She is passionate about educating and empowering patients, helping them feel confident and informed about their oral health. Alongside clinical practice, Cat lectures nationally as a clinical educator and has developed hands-on training programmes under her education brand, The Modern Therapist. She is regularly published in dental magazines and continues to advance her training in restorative and aesthetic dentistry.
